O, the south Indian belly!

Sari is the best revealing costume..
Especially the belly revealed by women in saris ... awesome!
I have a few friends who look for occasions to wear a sari, the main purpose being - to show off their navel to guys who are always in the look out to see some belly action. I love doing this too ! Hmm ... I've recieved some good comments on my belly!

Its Divya again

A trained classical dancer, Divya has given many performances. She has won the Kalathilakam and Bhavans Jothi titles. She got her first break as a child artiste in a film called Nee Ethra Dhanya while in the fourth standard. Her first feature film was Sowgandhigam which she signed when she was studying in the tenth standard.

characteristics of a typical malayali girl

hmm.. sexy eyes, inviting lips !!
This pic talks a lot about the typical malayali woman.

1. The way she's tied her hair ... very typical
2. The hanging umberella shaped golden ear rings ...
3. Black lining around her eyes to enhance them ..
called 'Kan mashi' or Kaajal, basically, eyeliner.
4. The pale yellow 'Kuri' on her forhead ...
Thats basically sandalwood paste, as mentioned
in one of my earlier post.

How come she forgot jasmine flowers for her hair, I wonder ! :)

MohiniAatam

Sunanda Nair performing Mohiniaatam, a classical dance form of Kerala.

Also worth mentioning about this pic is her hairstyle. The hair bun pulled on to one side, with an adoration of sweet jasmine flowers. It was very typical of women belonging to the upper caste in Kerala. These upper caste women were known as 'Thamburaati's

women celebrating Onam

This is a pic of women in kerala performing a traditional dance called 'kai kotti kalli', during a festival called Onam. Onam is a harvest festival.

The dancing women folk seen in the pic are attired in the traditional malayali costume called veshti-mundu. Its a kind of 2 piece sari, off-white with golden borders.
